Strategic plan 2010-2015: position statement and action plan for learning disability

This five year plan outlines aims to drive up standards on behalf of people with learning disabilities. This will involve building intelligence networks within services, representative groups and other relevant organisations to feed into the regulator's picture of services and direct where inspections should take place.

Training for people with learning disabilities (MS Word)

Bespoke courses and interventions are available to support the End of Life Care (EOLC) of people with learning disabilities. From diagnosis through treatment or into bereavement the training is based on both the most up to date research and significant hands on experience of caring directly for people with learning disabilities who are ill or bereaved, their families and the professionals who care for them.

Training courses and services include:

  • Enhanced communication with people who have learning disabilities
  • Introduction to the EOLC needs of people with learning disabilities
  • EOLC decision making with people who have learning disabilities
  • Bereavement care of people with learning disabilities
  • Training the trainers in bereavement and EOLC
  • Bespoke training and consultancy services
