Project summary

This project is investigating the delivery of palliative and end of life care, with particular regard for the impact of new policy and practice initiatives for improving access and quality of care for patients with both cancer and non-cancer diagnoses. This is a two year longitudinal study across five sites within the boundaries of the Mid Trent Cancer Network: two acute hospitals, two community teams and one care home. Phase one of the project - to undertake an audit of care provided in the last four weeks of life for patients (from the sampled care teams) who died between January 2005 and December 2006 – has been completed.
